Why the holidays call for clean carpets. Walking in a winter wonderland? Hearing sleigh bells ring? The weather outside frightful? The holidays are coming, and it’s time to think about getting your carpets cleaned.

1. Traffic With all the in-and-out of holiday preparations, followed by holiday guests, dinners, parties and happenings, indoor traffic is at a high. And in with the shoes comes the dirt and grime from the holiday weather. What they walk through outside generally comes with them inside. Getting the carpets cleaned pre-holiday can help you stay ahead of the dirt.

 2. Appearance The holidays mean it’s time to show off your home. A dirty carpet can be a show-stopper. Don’t let a dirty carpet detract from the warmth of your home, your holiday decorations, and the people around you. Including clean carpets on your holiday cleaning list is one of the easiest steps to ensure your holiday entertaining plans go off without a hitch!

3. Contact When do you come in contact with your carpet more than at the holidays? Everyone sits or lies on the floor to open presents or gather around to watch movies, or just to be near to each other. Get your carpets cleaned before your loved ones lay down on them! Need to find a professional to take the carpet cleaning off your to-do list? Make your appointment today, with ProCleanersNJ  973-343-7627

Tips & Techniques for Tricky Stains - carpet stain removal

Basic Carpet Stain Removal

  1. Scoop up as much of the spill as possible.
  2. Blot the spot, don't rub or scrub. Gently press clean cloths into the stained area to remove moisture. (Scrubbing can damage the fiber and set the stain into the carpet.)
  3. Apply warm, NOT hot, water to the stained area and blot until the stain stops transferring to the cloth.
  4. If you can still see the stain, make a Detergent Solution by adding 1/4 teaspoon dishwashing liquid to one cup warm water.  (Don't use too much soap, because it's difficult to rinse out of the carpet.)
  5. Apply the detergent solution, let sit five minutes, then rinse with clear warm water. Repeat until all the detergent is removed.
  6. Place layers of white paper towels on the spill to absorb the liquid. Weight down the towels with a non-staining glass or ceramic object. You can let them sit overnight.
  7. When the carpet is dry, vacuum to restore the texture.
  8. If you can see the stain after all this, repeat steps 3 through 7. It means the stain penetrated deep into the pile and has wicked up to the surface.

Four Steps to a Fresh, Clean, Healthy Carpet

If you're thinking about having your carpets cleaned, we encourage you to
follow these four steps:

Step #1: Make a commitment to yourself to get your carpets cleaned. The
longer they remain dirty, the sooner they wear out (or "ugly out"). Plus,
the longer you have to breathe the pollen, germs, parasites, and chemicals
that kick up out of your carpet as you walk.

Step #2: List your objectives: Do you want it to look good - or do you
want it to be good and healthy? Do you want to work with a skilled,
experienced, reputable company prepared to earn your trust - or will you
risk your home and its furnishings to the company who offers the lowest
price - knowing they might not be in business tomorrow?

Step #3: Ask questions. The way to learn about a company is to ask specific
questions and listen carefully to the answers. Here are some tough questions
to ask a carpet cleaner before he begins to clean your carpet:

1) What method of carpet cleaning do you recommend?
2) What type of equipment do you use?
3) How many gallons of water will it take to clean my carpet?
4) What percentage of the total gallons used will be removed before
you leave?
5) How long before I can move all my furniture back in?
6) How often should I have my carpet cleaned?
7) Will your technician be able to show me his training certification
when he arrives?
8) Are you a member of www.angieslist.com?

Step#4: Once you are convinced you are working with an honest, competent
professional, invite him into your home for a written quotation. This will
eliminate those pesky surprises.
By following these four steps, you'll have all you need to make an informed,
intelligent decision. If you just want a quick, cheap carpet cleaning, many
companies in the phone book can help. Or, you can rent a shampooer from
the grocery store and do it yourself.
But if you want "the most painless, the most thorough carpet cleaning
experience ever," call ProCleanersNJ 973-343-7627.
We'll be happy to answer your questions, provide you with a ballpark estimate
over the phone, or arrange to meet you at your home for a free written quote
- without cost or obligation.

Why You Want A Clean, Healthy Carpet

Why You Want A Clean, Healthy Carpet

Which do you want? A carpet that looks good.

Or a carpet that is good, clean and healthy.

More and more cleaners are getting trained and certified just to compete against the fly-by-nights that

abound in this field (like doctors, lawyers, and used car salesmen). But few demonstrate an

understanding of the chemistry and physics that would help keep them out of trouble.

For example, I've heard of truck-mount operators brag that their unit heats the water to 250 degrees F.

Pretty interesting, since water turns to steam at 212 degrees.

They also brag, "My system will clean and disinfect your carpet because of the hot water." Pretty

interesting, since you have to boil stream water for five, preferrably ten minutes to kill the bugs

before you can drink it. If their unit puts the water on the carpet at 211 degrees (impossible since the

heater is at least 50 to 100 feet of hose away), it can’t raise the temperature of the carpet fiber enough

to disinfect and trying to would wreck the carpet. A carpet can only be disinfected chemically. This

should be done first, then cleaned to remove the residue. It's too bad many cleaners (those who

do pay for training) are not being taught this.

Actually, we have a way to disinfect without using disinfectant chemicals but if I told you how we

did that, well, (Ask me when we are alone, or as Jack Bauer would say, on a secured line.)

I'm not telling you about all these critters to scare you. Go on the E.P.A. web-site and see what they

recommend. "Two adults, no kids, no pets, no smoking - carpets should be cleaned once or twice per

year depending on climate and outdoor air quality" - not because of how it looks, but for

your health.

If all you want is "cheap", there's no telling what you'll get - you could get a ‘72 Pinto Stationwagon

or an ‘87 pick-up truck. It might get you there. This level of results can be achieved by calling just

about anybody in the yellow pages or by renting a machine from the grocery store yourself.

If you want to protect your investment in carpeting; if you want to protect your family from germs

and parasites, pollens, chemicals, and the risk of mold and mildew from over-saturation of carpets

and pads underneath, you're invited to call ProCleanersNJ carpet cleaners. You'll receive a free

written quote with no obligation. If you give us the go-ahead, you are

7 Mistakes To Avoid When Choosing A Carpet Cleaner

7 Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing a Carpet Cleaner

Mistake #1: Choosing a cleaner based on equipment alone.

Well, no question. A $20,000-$30,000 brand new truck-mount with lots of promises in pretty
lettering on the side looks very impressive. The fact remains, I'll be using the same  machine that
came with my business when I purchased it in 1982  to restore the carpet they wreck with it. (Unless I
break down and buy a shiny new one just to improve my image.)

Mistake #2: Choosing a carpet cleaner based on low price.

This can be a problem in at least three ways:

1) Low price is the bait that gets you to call. Once in the home, you

are pressured into a more expensive job.

2) Low price could be for single-process (regular) cleaning. Once

explained, the customer is pressured to purchase the more

expensive "dual-process" (Illegal "bait-and-switch").

3) Often, especially in the cases above, the cleaner is inexperienced,

has cheap equipment, is untrained and lacks skill, or just doesn't

know what it costs to acquire the things that will get results,

referrals, and enable his business to stand the test of time.

Mistake #3: Choosing a carpet cleaner based on one phone call.

Instead, invite the person into your home to give you a firm, written quotation. Then you'll know

exactly what the cleaner recommends - and you won't be the victim of high pressure tactics when the

technician steps into your living room. (Some owners pay their technicians on commission
and don't even know how their customers are being pressured - or they encourage it.)

Mistake #4: Choosing a carpet cleaner who does not offer a 100% money-back guarantee.

Inexperienced cleaners have all kinds of reasons why they would never offer a guarantee: "What if t

the carpet is 20 years old and has permanent stains? - I'll lose my shirt

Experienced cleaners know that consumers aren't unreasonable, generally. They have a pretty good i

idea which of their stains are permanent and they

don't expect a 20-year-old carpet that 4 kids and 10 pets were raised on

will look like brand new because it was cleaned. They also know that a

company that doesn't offer a 100 % satisfaction guarantee is not very

confident of their ability to delight their clients with good old fashioned
skill and service. Ask him if he offers a written guarantee and make sure
it is included on the written quotation.

Mistake #5: Choosing a carpet cleaner without getting comments from his other clients.

Make sure you ask for references or are able to read comments from

current clients so you can depend on him and his work.

Mistake #6: Choosing a carpet cleaner who isn't certified.

I shudder to think what some of these guys are doing to people's carpets

by going out there with no formal training and trying to operate a truckmount
that puts out 3 gallons of 200-degree water per minute at 500 psi.

Even worse, trying to get a carpet clean with a portable that

doesn't have any power. (I see the results every day.)

Though seeing your operator's certification (not his boss's) doesn't

guarantee he will do a good job, not seeing it can mean just about
anything. (Ask me for a sampling of my horror stories.)

Mistake #7: Choosing a cleaner who is not a member of Angie's List.

https://www.angieslist.com is a website where you can find Find Top Rated Professionals - (Carpet Cleaners)

This website dedicated to:

1) honest, ethical business practices

2) staying current on carpet construction, fiber developments, and

the chemistry and procedures for caring for them

3) the highest level of customer service

You make a wise decision when you check  to https://www.angieslist.com

see if your cleaner is listed there in good standing.
